  3. REGISTRATION:
  4. Second Glance is currently working on a TWAIN version of ScanTastic ps. This will be send automatically to all registered users, so, SEND IN YOUR REGISTRATION CARD!

  8. IMPORTANT NOTE FOR GRAY SCALE SCANNER OWNERS:
  9. The first time you run ScanTastic ps, you will need to choose a selection from the 'Image Type' menu. This initializes the software for your scanner. If you do not perform this step, you will recieve an illegal parameter error when you try to preview or scan.

  13. INCOMPATIBILITIES:
  14. ScanTastic ps is incompatible with Adobe Type Reunion. We suggest Now corp.’s WYSIWYG Menus if you need this function.

  16. ScanTastic ps in incompatible with the Radius Rocket. You must disable your Rocket with the control panel provided by Radius in order to use ScanTastic ps.

  20. UNDOCUMENTED FEATURES:
  21. Tone Curves:
  22. When working with tone curves, there are a couple of short-cuts that can help you out:
  23. You can duplicate a curve value from one color to all other colors by holding the command key down and typing an ‘F’

  25. To restore the tone curves to their normal state, hold the command key down and type a ‘D’.

  31. Image processing takes a tremendous amount of memory. If your are getting ‘out of memory’ errors from Xpress, you need to adjust the memory size that is allocated to Xpress. This is a particular problem with 3 pass scans.

  33. System 7 or MultiFinder memory adjustment procedures:
  34. 1. Quit Xpress
  35. 2. Click on the Xpress icon and choose "Get Info" from the "File" menu.
  36. 3. Click in the small edit field that says "Current Size".
  37. 4. Increase the number by at least 250 (Xpress performs better with its memory set above 2500).
  38. 5. Launch Xpress and try your scan again.
  39. 6. If you still get the memory error, quit Xpress and repeat step 4 & 5 until you have success.

  41. System 6, standard Finder:
  42. You will be hard pressed to run Xpress in a machine with less than 4 megs installed. Try removing any INITS or extensions that you have added that may be taking extra system memory away from the application.
